Mittens for Three Little Kittens & FREEBIES! - Part 2

You will be STOKED you came back for another Mittens for Three Little Kittens visit as we will trip this garden FANTASTIC!

I made this interactive kitty mitten color matching game from Danielle's Place Cat Crafts. My babes had a BODACIOUS time playing several games with this here interactive kitten over & over.

I altered it a bit from the directions using felt for the paws, ears, tongue and mittens. For the whiskers I used pipe cleaners. I also outlined the tongue, paws and mittens with glitter glue. I made the paws movable using brads. Here are some close up assembly pictures:

I also read the following poems and used this kitty to tell the story. The children had to find the color mittens I just read off and put them on the kitty.

My Poor Little Kitten

My poor little kitten lost her mitten
And started to cry, boo-hoo.
So I helped my kitten to look for her mitten.
Her beautiful mitten of BLUE.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Under my Mother's bed.
But, alas, the mitten was not the right mitten,
For it was colored RED.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Under the kitchen sink.
But, alas, the mitten was not the right mitten,
For it was colored PINK

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
in my Mothers’ storage.

But alas, the mitten was not the right mitten

For it was colored orange.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Under my father's pillow.
But, alas, the mitten was not the right mitten,
For it was colored YELLOW.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Under the laundry so clean.
But, alas, the mitten was not the right mitten,
For it was colored GREEN.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Under my toy gurple.

But alas, it was not the right mitten

As it was the color purple.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
On the hand of my brother's toy clown.
But, alas, the mitten was not the right mitten,
For it was colored BROWN.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Inside a grocery sack.
But, alas, the mitten was not the right mitten,
For it was colored BLACK.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Underneath the hay.

But alas, the mitten was not the right mitten

As it was colored gray.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Underneath my kite.

But alas, the mitten was not the correct mitten

As it was colored white.

I found a mitten just right for a kitten
Inside my favorite shoe.
And this time the mitten was just the right mitten,
For it was colored BLUE!

In Winter I Put My Mittens On

In winter I put my mittens on,

On Monday they are red.

Find the mate?

Colorful Mittens

Sing to: Six Little Ducks

Colorful mittens for me and you
Red ones, yellow ones, blue ones too.
But the one pair of mittens that rhymes with fellow,
They're my favorite mittens, they're the color yellow!

Replace with other rhyming pairs such as:
red/bed
bean/green
sink/pink

Brown/crown

Tack/black

Gurple/purple

Borin/orange

Zoo/blue

Kite/white

Pray/gray

Ten Colored Mittens

Ten colored mittens hanging on the line
one fell off, then there were nine.
Nine colored mittens near the garden gate,
one fell off, then there were eight.
Eight colored mittens waving to the heaven
one fell off, then there were seven.
Seven colored mittens hanging near the sticks
one fell off, then there were six.
Six colored mittens were near a beehive
one fell off, then there were five.
Five colored mittens hanging at the door
one fell off, then there were four.
Four colored mitten hanging on a tree
one fell off, then there were three.
Three colored mittens, up in the sky blue
one fell off, then there were two.
Two colored mittens flapping in the sun...
one fell off, then there was one.
One colored mitten alone had no fun,
So he flew a way, and then there were none.

Then I hid the colored mittens around the room for a fun Hide N Seek game.

We recited some Kitten fingerplays and songs:

Five Kittens

Five little kittens standing in a row, (Hold up five fingers.)
They nod their heads to the children so. (Bend fingers)
They run to the left; they run to the right. (Run fingers to the left and then to the right.)
They stand up and stretch in the bright sunlight. (Stretch fingers out tall.)
Along comes a dog who's in for some fun. (Hold up one finger from opposite hand.)
ME-OW! See those little kittens run! (Let fingers run.)

Five Little Pussycats Playing Near the Door

Five little pussycats playing near the door; (hold up 5

fingers)

One ran and hid inside and then there were four.

Four little pussycats underneath a tree; (hold up 4 fingers)

One heard a dog bark and then there were three.

Three little pussycats thinking what to do; (hold up 3 fingers)

One saw a little bird and then there were two.

Two little pussycats sitting in the sun; (hold up 2 fingers)

One ran to catch his tail and then there was one.

One little pussycat looking for some fun; (hold up one

finger)

He saw a butterfly---and then there was none.

5 Warm Mittens

Five warm mittens hanging on the line,

First one said, "We sure look fine."

Second one said, "It sure is cold."

Third one said, "I am getting old."

Fourth one said, "I hear someone near."

Fifth one said, "Soon we will be warm- there's nothing to fear!"

Then "pluck" went the mittens and in through the door

and 5 little mittens were hanging no more.

Kitten is Hiding

A Kitten is Hiding under a chair, (hide thumb under other hand)

I looked and looked for her everywhere! (peer around looking)

Under the table and under the bed, (pretend to look)

I looked around the corner, and when I said,

"Come here kitty kitty, there's milk for you!" (cup hands for a dish and extend)

Kitty came running and calling, "Meow, meow, meow." (run fingers up arm)

Kitty Cat

I have a kitty cat named Puff. (hold up one thumb)

He's round and soft as a ball of fluff. (make a circle with both hands)

Each day he laps up all his milk.

And his fur is soft as silk. (stroke thumb with other hand)

When he's happy you will know,

For his fluffy tail swings to and fro. (swing little finger back and forth)

Mitten Finger play

My Kitty

I have a little kitty (pinky & index fingers pointing up like ears)

He is as quick as can be (make quick side ways motion with hand)

He jumps upon my lap

And purrs a song to me. (cup one hand in the palm of the other)

Two Little Kittens

Two little kittens found a ball of yarn while they were playing near the barn. (pinky & index fingers pointing up like ears using both hands)

1 little kitten jumped in the hay, (fingers spread & jumping motion)

But the other kitten ran away. (fingers running away)

When Julian was younger, I hung a clothesline in our classroom and he did some mitten addition color matching:

We did some mitten color word stamping from Making Learning Fun Mitten Read & Stamp using my vintage Monster Alphabet Stampers:

We made The Mystery of the Lost Mitten read, trace and color books from Teach With Me. I had the children trace the words as I had written them on the chalkboard using each step to form the letters correctly:

We talked about pairs and did some worksheets covering pairs from my Vintage Three Little Kittens Activity Pack:

Jumpstart Pair Hunt

DIG our FAR OUT mitten crafts! First we made some mitten suncatchers. I put a sheet of wax paper on my ironing board.

We peeled and smashed some crayons and sprinkled them on the wax paper. Then I put another piece of wax paper on top. Each babe ironed their crayon crumbles until they melted into the color they wanted.

We glued one side of a cut out mitten on top of the melted wax and let it dry.

Turning the wax paper over, we glued on the other side of the mitten and let it dry. Next we glued on a piece of yarn for a hanger:

then glued cotton balls on top and around it. Let it dry turned it over and glued cotton on the opposite side. Letting that dry, I outlined the mitten with glue and had each babe sprinkle glitter over the glue lines and let it dry, then hung them on Gramma's window:

Next we made Mitten Wreaths out of paper plates and foam:

Of course my babes had other plans for those wreaths:
